Hondo Chuo Rotary Club 10th Anniversary Memorial
1994 Mogine Beach
It was built as a 10th anniversary monument for the Hondo Chuo Rotary Club, which was founded in 1984. The purpose of the construction is "We are building a 10th anniversary monument on this land in hopes of spreading the idea of traffic safety and encouraging each and every citizen to work toward building a bright and peaceful hometown with goodwill and compassion." A large monument over 10 meters high, located next to Mogine Beach.
Ceramic Town Development Project: Ceramic mural by Katsuhiko Hibino
2001 Hondo Civic Center
For three years from 2000 to 2003, Hondo City implemented the "Ceramics Town Development" project. As part of this project, they invited Katsuhiko Hibino to create a ceramic mural based on the monumental elements of the project. It is currently on permanent display in the lobby in front of the Civic Center's large hall. Incidentally, the tiles in the toilets are also based on his paintings.
Nishinokubo Park Nameplate
2004 Nishino-Kubo Park A park that stretches for about 2km in the Nishino-Kubo area of Hondo City. It is also known for its rare iris garden, which uses the terraced rice fields of the Satoyama area. In June, a iris festival is held, in which 250,000 flowers bloom, and the elegant sight is said to be the best in Kyushu. It is a great walking course that shows different expressions depending on the season. The ceramic panel is installed at the entrance on the mountain's mouth side.
Hondo Park Name and Bench Decoration
2004 Hondo Park
This park opened in June 2005 in Hondo, Hondo Kita district. Six rectangular benches are placed around the square, with ceramic panels on the seats and sides. Unlike the existing thin tiles, they have a solid, thick appearance. They are decorated with motifs of nature, such as wind, mountains, sun, and stars, and face the vast sky, blending quietly and gently into the scenery.
